From ball pits

For almost forty years, 9120 SE Powell was a Chuck E. Cheese. It sat empty from 2020 until we took a ten-year lease and turned all 12,000 square feet of it into something Portland actually needed.
5 Premium Courts
Five regulation indoor courts with permanent nets — dedicated pickleball, climate controlled and open year-round. No wind, no puddles, no waiting out a February drizzle.
Cafe and Lounge
A small cafe, cold beer and wine, and space to hang around after your last game instead of loading up the car.

Meet Mrs.
Loan Nguyen
Mrs. Loan Nguyen is the CEO and Founder of Rose City Pickleball, where her vision extends far beyond building a premier indoor pickleball facility. She believes that pickleball is more than just a sport — it's a way to bring people together, inspire healthy lifestyles, and create meaningful connections within the community. Her passion for helping others, combined with her positive leadership, has become the foundation of Rose City Pickleball's welcoming and inclusive culture.
Before discovering pickleball, Mrs. Loan faced a personal health challenge that affected her mobility and daily life. Rather than allowing it to define her, she remained determined to stay active and find a path back to better health. That journey ultimately led her to pickleball — a sport that not only reignited her love for being active but also renewed her confidence, strengthened her physical well-being, and introduced her to an incredible community of supportive players.
Since discovering pickleball at the beginning of 2026, Mrs. Loan has embraced the game with enthusiasm and dedication. What started as a new hobby quickly became a passion fueled by the friendships, teamwork, and joy the sport creates. Inspired by the positive impact pickleball had on her own life, she set out to create a place where players of all ages and skill levels could learn, compete, and thrive together.
Outside of the court, Mrs. Loan is a devoted wife, mother, and dog lover who treasures the time she spends with her family and beloved dogs. She credits her family's unwavering love, encouragement, and support as the driving force behind her journey to establish Rose City Pickleball. Their belief in her vision has given her the confidence and determination to turn a dream into a thriving community where others can build lasting friendships and create unforgettable memories.
Mrs. Loan is known for her genuine desire to encourage others to reach their full potential. Whether she's welcoming a first-time player, supporting a seasoned competitor, or mentoring her staff, she leads with kindness, integrity, and a belief that everyone can achieve more than they think possible. Her mission is to foster an environment where every person who walks through the doors of Rose City Pickleball feels valued, motivated, and inspired to become the best version of themselves — both on and off the court.
Her vision for Rose City Pickleball is simple yet powerful: to build more than a pickleball club — to create a family-oriented community where people of all backgrounds can stay active, support one another, and discover the joy that comes from playing the fastest-growing sport in America. She hopes every guest leaves not only as a better player, but with a smile, new friendships, and a sense of belonging.

Questions
Good to know.
Do I need a membership to play?
No. Anyone can reserve a court or sign up for open play and programs through our booking site. Memberships just make it cheaper and let you book further in advance.
I've never played. Where do I start?
Start with a beginner clinic or a beginner-level open play session — both are listed on the programs page. We have demo paddles at the pro shop, so you don't need to buy gear to try it.
Can I bring a guest?
Yes. Premium members get one guest pass per month; anyone else can simply book a court or an open play spot for their guest.
What should I bring?
Clean indoor court shoes and water. Paddles and balls are available at the pro shop, and demos are on hand if you want to try before you buy.
Do you host private events or corporate parties?
We don't have a formal event package yet, but we're open to it — email admin@rosecitypb.com and tell us what you have in mind.
What's the cancellation policy?
Court reservations can be cancelled up to 12 hours before your start time. Inside 12 hours, the booking stands. Memberships are a separate thing — cancel or freeze those anytime from your PlayByPoint account.
How much is it without a membership?
$15 per hour, per person. Book it online like anyone else — there's no sign-up fee and no minimum.

My name is Thomas Mac, and I am passionate about helping players of all ages and skill levels develop confidence, improve their skills, and discover the joy of pickleball. My coaching philosophy is built on continuous learning, competitive play, and creating a positive environment where every player has the opportunity to succeed.
My journey in pickleball began with a love for the game and has grown into a commitment to sharing the techniques, strategies, and mindset that lead to success both on and off the court. Whether you're picking up a paddle for the very first time, refining your fundamentals, or preparing for tournament competition, I am dedicated to helping you reach your goals.
Beyond pickleball, I am proud to be a United States Air Force veteran and have served as a career Firefighter/EMT for over 25 years. These experiences have shaped who I am and have instilled in me the values of discipline, integrity, teamwork, leadership, resilience, and service. I bring these same principles into every lesson, creating an encouraging, structured, and enjoyable learning experience for every player.
As a fluent Vietnamese speaker, I am also honored to provide coaching in both English and Vietnamese, helping make the sport more welcoming and accessible to a diverse community of players.
My coaching style combines technical skill development, sound fundamentals, strategic game awareness, and positive encouragement. I believe that every player learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to individual goals, learning styles, and experience levels. My objective is not only to improve your mechanics but also to help you understand the game, make smarter decisions, and build confidence under pressure.
Whether your goal is to become a more consistent recreational player, compete in tournaments, or simply enjoy an active and healthy lifestyle, I am committed to helping you unlock your full potential. Success in pickleball comes from preparation, practice, and a positive mindset — and together, we'll build all three.
Thank you for choosing Rose City Pickleball. I look forward to meeting you on the courts, helping you elevate your game, and becoming part of your pickleball journey.
See you on the courts!Thomas Mac
